TEKNOLOGI PENGENDALIAN ALELOPATI UNTUK PENINGKTAN PRODUKTIVITAS DAN KESEHATAN NILAM

ABSTRAK

Penelitian pot mengenai teknologi pengendalian alelopati pada tanaman nilam telah dilakukan di sentra pengembangan nilam di Curup, Kabupaten Rejang Lebong, Provinsi Bengkulu mulai bulan Maret 2013. Keberadaan bahan organik dalam tanah sangat penting untuk memelihara dan mempertahankan kualitas fisik tanah yang lebih baik sehingga tanah mampu mendukung pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman. Bahan organik memainkan peran penting dalam proses pembentukan agregat dari butiran tanah primer. Penelitian disusun dengan menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok, dengan 6 perlakuan, 4 ulangan dan 10 tanaman per perlakun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan kapur pertanian (kaptan) (Perlakuan 3) dan arang sekam (Perlakuan 5) pada tanaman nilam dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan produksi biomas tanaman nilam. Perlakuan pergiliran tanaman dengan menta (Perlakuan 2), aplikasi arang tempurung kelapa (Perlakuan 4) dan tanah bekas pertanaman nilam (Perlakuan 6/kontrol) tampak kurang mampu memperbaiki dan meningkatkan produktivitas tanah dan tanaman nilam pada tanah bekas pertanaman nilam. Aplikasi kaptan dan arang sekam diharapkan dapat menekan pengaruh autotoksin yang dihasilkan oleh akar nilam sekaligus mampu memperpanjang masa panen pertanaman nilam.

ABSTRACT

An experimental pot was conducted in Curup District, Rejanglebong Regency, Bengkulu Province, from March 2013, to find out some management technologies for reducing the toxic effect of allelopathy compound on patchouli plantation. Some soil amelioration and organic matter are needed for supporting optimum plant growth and production nin the settled cultivation of patchouli. The experiment was arranged by Randomized Block Design with six treatments, 4 replication, and 10 plants per treatment. The observation results showed the application of lime (Treatment 2), and of rice husk charcoal (Treatment 4) in the allelopathy contaminated soil were able to improve of growth and patchouli production, even better than the control treatment of fresh soil non allelopathy contaminated soil (Treatment 1). It was indicated that the liming application was able to reduce some organic acid compound as to be recognized as a toxic compound of allelopathy. The application of rice husk charcoal was also able to improve patchouli growth ad productivity by absorbing the allelopathy compound produced by patchouli roots it self, Hopefully, application of lime and charcoal are able to reduce the effect of auto toxicity produced by patchouli roots and was able to extend harvest periods.
