FORMULA JAMU TERNAK (XANTHORRIZOL, MYCENE, LIMONEN) UNTUK MENINGKATKAN FERTILITAS SAPI (> 30%)

ABSTRAK

Pemanfaatan tanaman obat untuk tujuan peningkatan fertilitas pada manusia telah lama dikenal, tetapi belum banyak dilakukan pada ternak. Dalam program nasional swa sembada daging sapi, salah satu programnya dilakukan melalui program inseminasi buatan (IB). Peningkatan keberhasilan IB dapat dilakukan melalui peningkatan kuantitas dan kualitas semen sapi. Beberapa tanaman obat diantaranya purwoceng, pasak bumi, cabe jawa, tribulus, lengkuas, temulawak telah menjadi produk aprosidiaka untuk manusia. Jenis tanaman in berpeluang untuk dimanfaatkan pada ternak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan formula produk jamu ternak peningkat fertilitas sapi (30%). Penelitian ini terdiri dari 3 tahapan kegiatan, yaitu (1) penyiapan bahan baku, (2) formulasi jamu ternak berbasis tanaman obat peningkat fertilitas sapi, dan (3) uji in vivo feeding trial formula jamu peningkat fertilitas sapi. Tahap kegiatan 1 dimaksudkan untuk mendapatkan bahan baku dari 3 lokasi, dan mutu yang terbaik dijadikan sebagai bahan baku formula. Cara pengambilan sampel dengan metode pengambilan sampel terarah (purpossive sampling method). Pada tahap kegiatan 2, dibuat formula jamu ternak berupa jamu serbuk kering sebanyak 4 formula. Tahap kegiatan 3 adalah uji in vivo feeding trial dengan perlakuan terdiri dari 4 formula + 1 formula kontrol positif (formula komersial) + 1 formula kontrol negatif. Formula jamu diberikan setiap hari dengan dosis sesuai bobot badan sapi, dilarutkan 100-300 ml air/hari/ekor (10g formula kering setiap 60 kg bobot sapi). Rancangan yang digunakan RAK dengan 4 ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bahan baku terstandar temulawak, temu ireng, lengkuas diperoleh dari Sukabumi, sambiloto dari Sukoharjo, cabe jawa dari Pamekasan, sedang purwoceng dari Cianjur. Telah dihasilkan empat formula jamu ternak peningkat fertilitas sapi. Dari uji in vivo feeding trial formula jamu peningkat fertilitas sapi menunjukkan bahwa formula mempengaruhi motilitas (aktivitas semen), kekentalan, dan persentase semen hidup. Formula berpengaruh secara nyata setelah diberikan selama tiga minggu. Formula 3 dan formula 4 dapat diunggulkan karena pengaruhnya lebih konsisten dibandingkan formula yang lain.

ABSTRACT

Some medicinal plants such as Eurycoma longifolia Jack, Pimpenella purwatjan Piper retrofractum L, Tribulus terrestris, Curcuma xanthorriza, and lengkuas have been used as a traditional medicines to improve human fertility. According to the active compounds, these plants could also be used to improve cattle fertility, by increasing the quantity and quality of cattle cement, where quality of cement is the crucial factor on artificial insemination. It is very important in order to increase support national policy on food self sufficient. The aim of this research is to formulate traditional medicine (jamu) for cattle that increase cattle fertility up to 30%. The research consists of three stages, i.e. (1) raw material preparation, (2) formulation of jamu for cattle, and (3) in vivo feeding trial test of jamu. On the first stage raw materials were collected from three growing areas using purpossive sampling method, and the best quality were used for formulation. On the second stage the raw materials were formulated with 4 different compositions. The formulas then tested on in vivo feeding trial, consisted of 4 formula + 1 positive control formula (commercial formula) + 1 negative control. The cattles were feeded with tested formulas daily, where the dose based on cattle weight, 10 g formula of 60 kg cattle weight and mixed with 100-300 ml water/head/day. The experiment was set on randomized block design with 4 replitaion. The result showed that the best quality of medicinal herbal plants are different of each plants. Temu ireng and lengkuas were taken from Sukabumi, Andrigraphide from Sukoharjo, Piper cubeba from Pamekasan, and purwoceng from Cianjur. Those plants were formulated on 4 different compositions. In vivo feeding trial of the formulas indicated that formula applications significantly affected cement acitivity, mortality, and percentage of cement life after three weeks application. Formula 3 and Formula 4 were potentially to be developed as the effect is more consistent than the other formulas.
